James Palmer
|
James joined WWAOS at the end of 2002 at the tender age of 12; and since then has been lucky enough to have trained at and sung in many well-known venues, ranging from Winchester Cathedral (where he was recorded for BBC Radio 4) to RADA; as well as both having the privilege of working in the West End for over eighteen months, after leaving college and recording two albums.
James originally joined the committee in 2007 and served for a number of years, before taking a short break from the society, during which time he served as both Vice-Chair and subsequently Chairman of Zodiac Musical Society, before returning to his true home here at WWAOS in 2016, where he was immediately re-elected on to the committee, before stepping up into the role of Vice-Chair in 2018 and subsequently Chairman four years later in 2022. Having obtained a degree in Drama and Education at the University of Winchester, James took on the role of Director of Musical Theatre with Wentworth Dance Centre based in Virginia Water. As well as holding the position of Chairman, James can often be found directing shows and serves as Production Co-ordinator, Bar Manager, Costume Master alongside Pamela Lee, and is custodian of the majority of the society wardrobe. |
Mark Turvill
|
Mark joined WWAOS back in 2005 for Hello Dolly. Coming from a dancing background he quickly found his feet and enjoyed every step. It wasn't long before the dance experience helped land him the lead role of Bobby Childs in Crazy for You, which proved a breakthrough in confidence for Mark.
He runs the website and emails, joined the committee in 2010 and can be seen doing everything possible around the society (you name it, he's done it!). Mark was the societies Chair from 2014 through to 2018, where he has now side stepped into the Treasury role. Mark took his first steps into directing by co-directing the variety show A-Z of Musicals with Jenny Jones, and again for Movsicals, and has also Musically Directed Spamalot, Curtains and Kiss Me, Kate. |
